About Meta-Thinking-Maths

Meta-Thinking-Maths is a blog in which I share my thoughts and views, as well as interesting facts on meta-thinking in mathematics and mathematical problem-solving.

In this blog, I discuss how meta-thinking can assist you in developing the needed skills to excel and perform better in mathematics. Meta-thinking is part of our daily lives and sometimes we apply it without being aware of it. Sometimes we do not make enough use of it and need to develop meta-thinking skills. It is like exercising your brain in developing its muscles to think better and how to solve mathematical problems quickly and efficiently.

Meta-thinking, also known as metacognition, is thinking about your thinking. It sounds strange, but it involves how you monitor, regulate and reflect on your thoughts and ways of doing.

When using meta-thinking skills, you use prior knowledge to plan a strategy in solving a task, consider the necessary steps to solve a problem, reflect on and evaluate the solution you obtained, and modify your approach where needed. Meta-thinking helps you to choose the right thinking tools to solve a task and in this way makes your learning journey more successful and enjoyable.
