So what is meta-thinking (or metacognition) and why is it important?

Meta-thinking is the process of thinking about one's own thinking and learning. It refers to one's awareness of and ability to regulate one's own thinking. Some everyday examples of meta-thinking include: awareness that you have difficulty remembering people's names in social situations. reminding yourself that you should try to remember the name of a person you just met.

Meta-thinking is important, as it enables you to examine how you process thoughts and feelings. This ability encourages students to understand how they learn best. It also helps them to develop self-awareness skills that become important as they get older.
It is important in every aspect of school and life, since it involves self-reflection on one's current position, future goals, potential actions and strategies, and results.
